“A Beast that can Handle a Lot!”

The CCR2004 Series Begins to Expand!

While MikroTik’s pioneer 2nd generation Cloud Core Router, the CCR2004-1G-12S+2XS, continues cranking up network performances all around, a new CCR2004 Ethernet router is on its way!

Referred to by MikroTik as “a beast that can handle a lot,” the CCR2004-16G-2S+ is the newest addition to MikroTik’s inventory of Ethernet routers that combines stunning performance with an affordability you deserve.

You do not want to miss out on this router! Watch the video below by MikroTik to see what we’re talking about!

How About a Peek under the Hood?

With 4 Gigabytes of RAM and a QuadCore 1.7 GHz CPU with the advanced ARM 64bit architecture, the CCR2004-16G-2S+ promises to fit perfectly within a variety of network designs. It has 16 1G Ethernet ports and 2 10G SFP+ ports. The Ethernet ports are divided into two groups, with each group connected to a separate switch-chip, and each chip connected to the CPU via a 10 Gbps full-duplex line. The same goes for each SFP+ cage.

Among other uses, such port arrangement gives you the freedom to use all 16 Ethernet ports for your local network, and utilize the pair of 10G SFP+ ports for establishing the required downlink and uplink.

Given its competitive pricing – not just among MikroTik routers but within the general market – the CCR2004-16G-2S+ can be considered an all-in-one solution for small and medium businesses! Also, unlike the first CCR2004 device, the CCR2004-16G-2S+ is equipped with a Type A USB port that qualifies this Ethernet router for large data networking projects, such as content filtering, network monitoring, and the like.

Moreover, just like the CCR1072-1G-8S+, the CCR2004-16G-2S+ comes with two removable (hotplug or hot-swap) 100-240 V AC power supplies that can efficiently tackle all those unexpected and unwelcome downtimes!

And finally, keeping the device up and running in top shape are two active cooling fans that make sure your router does not skip a beat!

Already Ruffling Some Feathers!

The new MikroTik CCR2004 Ethernet router sure looks promising, and performance-wise, it is already bringing fierce competition for some other MikroTik devices, including the CCR1009-7G-1C-1S+ and the CCR1016 series.

As for the CCR1009-7G-1C-1S+, the CCR2004-16G-2S+ is already grabbing the lead! A simple comparison of performance test results shows that the latter is capable of yielding far better speed results, especially when the CPU needs to bear heavy loads.

Also, the two CCR1016 devices – the CCR1016-12G and the CCR1016-12S-1S+ – have found themselves a worthy adversary, as the practicality achieved by the now pair of CCR2004 devices is an improvement to address the limitations of the two specialized CCR1016 devices.

Here's how things look form the CCR2004s' point of view when compared against their corresponding CCR1016 router:

Update: Maintenance Couldn't be "Hotter"

The hot-swap power supplies (G1040A-60WN) for the CCR2004-16G-2S+, with an input of 100-240 V - 1.5 A (max) and an output of 12 V - 5 A, are now available!

Given the dual redundant power supplies on this router, you can simply forget about turning off or restarting your device for power replacement.

If one power supply goes out of order for any reason, its twin will take over, and, without the need to shut down or even restart your router, you can simply unscrew the faulty part and replace it with a new one! Zero downtime guaranteed!

The Bottomline…

With its tested power-efficient performance, affordable price, level 6 RouterOS license, and highly practical port arrangement, the CCR2004-16G-2S+ can be a beneficial addition or upgrade to your network.
